Sion, Lisa and Emma from Kraken Kreative

Without the beautiful work that Sion, Lisa and Emma from Kraken Kreative put out there, we might not work as hard ourselves. We have no doubt you've glimpsed some of their handy work plastered across the signs, uniforms and marketing of Wollongong's local businesses.
We shot a fast-five to their redistributed studio to see how they are making in a world held hostage to sneezes.
What does a day look like for you at the moment?
The studio has kind of broken up into two for the time being, I'm working from home and Emma and Lisa are working at the studio. Working from home has been pretty challenging, it always feels like the weekend so I just want to go to the beach, skate or have a beer at lunch-time. But that's not too bad, the bigger challenge is getting work done when there's two kids trying to get your attention all day.
What are you enjoying about this new way of working?
Although very hard to get work done, it's been awesome being around my family all the time. It's been a good time to step back and reflect on what's important, in life and in business. It's also been great to see the community of small local businesses come together to help each other out through this time.
What changes have you had to make to keep operating? Do you think these will remain in place in the longer term?
We had to minimise the amount of people at the studio. We kept the full-time staff working but had to close the doors to the public. We saw a big hit in our sales initially so we had to drop our prices and put a sale on to keep us in work. I hope none of this stays in place. We love having people visit the studio, meeting new people and discussing projects.
Have your suppliers or partners had to change the way they operate also? What have they done?
We've been lucky enough that our suppliers are operational, without them we'd be in trouble.
What do you miss most about life pre-COVID-19?
I will never take sitting with friends with a cold beer for granted ever again!
What business would you like to hear from next?
